Family album I
The Family Album series circles around themes such as identity, memory and intimacy.
Technically, the images are snapshots taken over a number of years, from a house in Spain, in my paternal hometown of Málaga. The images paraphrase the traditional family album. Despite the fact that the images appear as tableaux or still lifes, they have not been staged, but have rather emerged from everyday situations.
The series consists of a larger body of work. My practice consists of continuous components, particularly a fascination with mirrors, and skin's elasticity and ability to both capture light and reflect it. The photo series reflects themes such as time and memory - and the abstract moment – of Now!
In many ways, the Family Album series is an attempt to capture, re-construct and reunite my own family history across time and place.
